Emergency Department Nurse

Working as a nurse within our Emergency Department means no two days are the same.

You will be exposed to all areas of medicine, from resuscitation to heart attacks, from drowning to looking after sick children, providing ample opportunity to grow your experience, skills and knowledge within nursing and medicine.

Our Emergency Department (ED) nurses take pride in being the first point of contact for many patients, friends and relatives in distressing situations. In these emergency  situations, the impact of our nurses’ words and actions cannot be oversold and make a world of difference to patient outcomes and experience.

ED Nurse to patient ratios are situation dependent, a guide follows: Resuscitation can be 1:3; Majors can be 1:6; Minors is usually 1:15 (all situation dependant).
